Community Revival Choir

A mass choir made up of musicians from churches across the Woodruff Community will lead in worship during the Community Revival.  You are invited to take part.  Rev. Curtis Terry will be directing the Community Choir.  The choir will meet prior to the service each night and a special rehearsal will be held:

Outreach!

This Saturday we will prayer-walk the neighborhoods and give out “door-hangers” with information about the Community Revival.  We will also have a booth at the Woodruff Fall Festival where we will give out water bottles with information about the revival printed on the labels.  If you would like to be part of either of these projects, please contact the church office.

FUNERAL MEAL PREPARATION

We need volunteers to help prepare dishes for funeral meals.  If you would like to help, please contact the church office for information and to sign up.  Thanks!

40 DAYS OF COMMUNITY

Beginning Next Sunday, September 24

What on Earth are WE here for?

A Church-Wide Spiritual Growth Campaign

The Devotional Guides are $7.00.  If you are able, purchase one for yourself & one for a friend.  The guides include 40 Days of Devotions, Journal, & the Small Group/Sunday School Lessons.  Different guides for youth and children will be provided.

Host Homes Needed!

Would you consider hosting a “small group Bible study” in your home during 40 Days of Community?  The study features a DVD by Rick Warren with discussion questions provided.  This is an excellent way to reach neighbors, co-workers, or family who are reluctant to come with you to church.  Contact our pastor if you would like to pursue this opportunity.

The Purpose Driven Community Simulcast

Next Sunday night, September 24, we will view together the “National Simulcast” to prepare us for the 40 Days of Community.  There will be powerful preaching, testimonies and music.  The simulcast features Rick Warren, author of The Purpose Driven Life.  You will not want to miss this event.

Sunday School

(During The 40 Days, Beginning Next Sunday, Sept. 24)

We will begin each week in the sanctuary where we will take part as Rick Warren leads us through the Sunday School lesson.  Then we will go to our Sunday School classes for a time of discussion. You will receive a 40 Days of Community key ring and each week you will be given a memory verse to attach to it.  Everything will begin at 9:45 am so you will want to be here before that.  Set an extra alarm.  Work out a telephone wake up system in your class.  Do whatever it takes, so that you will not miss out and be able to experience spiritual growth.

CHRISTMAS BAZAAR

The Acteens are sponsoring a Christmas Bazaar on Saturday, Nov. 11, to help with the cost for the National Acteens Convention in Kansas City, Missouri in 2007.  If anyone would like to contribute craft items, homemade jams, jellies, relishes or baked goods, they would greatly appreciate it.  The Acteens are also planning a hot dog sale that day.  If you can help out in any way, please contact Donna Hembree or the church office.

THANK YOU!

Thank you so very much for all the cards, calls, food, prayers and concern during my recent surgery.  Clark and I are blessed to be a part of such a loving and caring church family.  Please continue to remember us in your prayers as I recover.   In Christian Love, Betty Simpkins

Thank you First Baptist Church for helping the Morning Mission Group gather 78 new and used Bibles during the Bible Bonanza.  All Bibles were given to the Spartanburg Network to be used by local ministries!

Dear First Baptist Church, Thank you so much for all the prayers and care you gave to John.  It really means so much and Inez really did appreciate it as did we.  Thanks to all who did such a wonderful dinner, it gave our family of little more time together.  Sincerely, Kay Drummond Waters
