CHRISTIAN SYMPATHY

We extend our love and prayerful support to

Joanne Kiser and Family in the death

of her sister-in-law, Elizabeth Geer.

OPERATION:  CHRISTMAS CHILD

Share joy & hope with a needy child in a troubled country this Christmas.  Look for the information flyers in the foyer, church office and in your Sunday School class.  The filled boxes need to be brought to the church on or before Sunday, November 12.  The fold up boxes that we have used in the past are not available this year, so you will need to purchase a plastic box or use a shoe box.

FLU SHOTS

Thursday, November 2 * 1:00 - 4:00 pm

Our church is hosting this clinic for the faculty & staff of District 4 Schools and for the community.   The flu shot is for adults.  At this time, there are no restrictions.  You must sign up before Wednesday, October 25.  The cost for the shot will be either $20 or $25.  (We hope to know soon.)

2007 MINISTRY SUPPORT BUDGET

Pray for our Stewardship Committee as they meet the next two Thursdays to prepare the 2007 Ministry Support Budget.  The Proposed 2007 Church Budget will be presented for discussion at our Church Conference Sunday evening, November 5.  We will vote on the budget on Sunday morning, November 12.  The Stewardship Committee is composed of:  Tony Brown, chairman, Loretta Burdette, Ted Culbreath, Julia Howard, Lynn Harrill, and D. J. O’Hara.  Ex officio members are:  Debra Fortner, Steve Ramey, Andrew Shull, Clark Simpkins Jr., and Jane Turner.

Saturday, October 28 *  6:00 pm

Fun, food, fellowship, & candy for the whole family!

If you would be willing to:  bake a cake for the cake walk, make a dessert, run a carnival game, donate candy, give out candy at your Sunday School Class door, help decorate, help prepare or clean up from supper, help with taking things down or help greet new people, please contact Kelly Smith.

What on Earth are WE here for?

A Church-Wide Spiritual Growth Campaign

Sunday School:  A Place to Grow and Belong!

Join us each Sunday during the 40 Days whether you are a member of a Sunday School class or not.  Adults & Youth will begin together in the church sanctuary where Rick Warren will introduce the Scripture lesson.  Then we will go to our regular classes for a time of discussion.  If you are not part of a class, we will help you to find a group you are comfortable with.  Everything will begin at 9:45 am so you will want to be here before that.  Set an extra alarm.  Work out a telephone wake up system in your class.  Do whatever it takes, so that you will not miss out and be able to experience spiritual growth.  This past Sunday the Goodwill Sunday School Class had 100% of their class members in attendance.  This is our oldest men’s Sunday School class.  The class is taught by Rex Skinner.  We are grateful for their faithfulness and for the example they have set in the study of God’s Word.

Home Bible Studies!

Zane & Lauren Orias, Skip & Pam Scott, and Jim & Kay Young would like to host a 40 Days of Community Small Group Bible Study in their homes.  This is an excellent opportunity to reach neighbors, co-workers, friends and family members who are not already part of a Sunday School class here at First Baptist.  If you are interested in joining one of these groups or know of people to whom we could extend a special invitation, please contact the church office.

“Better Together” Devotional Guides!

Copies of Better Together, the devotional guide for 40 Days of Community and copies of The Purpose Driven Life are available for $7.00.  If you are not able to purchase these books we are happy to provide them for you.
