WINTER YOUTH RETREAT

January 19-21 * Pigeon Forge, TN

You are invited to attend our Winter Retreat in the Great Smoky Mountains.  The conference is packed with great speakers and entertainment including:  Toby Mac, Kutless, Scott Dawson, David Nasser and Rick Burgess.  The cost is $110 plus meals.  To sign up, turn in a deposit of $55.00 on or before Sunday, November 7.

 

OPERATION:  CHRISTMAS CHILD

Share joy & hope with a needy child in a troubled country this Christmas.  Information flyers that give ideas about what to buy to put in the boxes are available in the church office.  A $7.00 donation is requested with each box.  The filled shoe boxes need to be brought to the church on or before Sunday, November 11.  www.samaritanspurse.org

Parking Lot Project Gifts Received to Date:  $135,801.48

 

COMMUNITY REVIVAL OFFERING

Each night during the Community Revival an offering was received.  Donations that came in during and after the revival totaled $7,000.00.  $3,000.00 will go to Helping Hands Ministries.  Habitat for Humanity, Woodruff Free Medical Clinic, Woodruff Community Center, and the Woodruff Community Clothes Closet will each receive $1,000.00.  To God be the Glory!

 

2008 MINISTRY SUPPORT BUDGET

Pray for our Stewardship Committee as they begin meeting to prepare the 2008 Ministry Support Budget.  The Proposed 2008 Church Budget will be presented for discussion at our Church Conference Sunday evening, November 4.  We will vote on the budget on Sunday morning, November 11.  The Stewardship Committee is composed of:  D. J. O’Hara, chairman, Loretta Burdette, Ted Culbreath, Julia Howard, Lynn Harrill, and Sam Rogers.  Ex officio members are:  Debra Fortner, Sarah Patterson, Andrew Shull, Clark Simpkins Jr., and Jane Turner.

FBC Back Parking Lot

We would love for all children and parents to make our church the first stop on their Trick or Treating route.  We will have reflective bags to give to each child.  A portion of the parking lot will be set up for children to receive candy and prizes.  Those who would like to give out candy are encouraged to call the church office and sign up so that we can reserve a parking space for you.  “Trunk or Treat” will take the place of our regular Wednesday night activities.

BASKETBALL AND CHEERLEADING

For Boys and Girls (K5 – Grade 8)

Information and registration forms for this year’s program are available in the church office.  “Upward” seeks to introduce children to Jesus Christ by creating opportunities through sports.

 

GOOD NEWS CLUB

Volunteers are needed to help with the Good News Club. The club will begin meeting this Thursday afternoon in the new District Four Activity Center and will be for children in grades 1-5.  Many children have come to know Christ through this club over the past two years.  Contact Kathy Soza for more information.

ACTIVITY CENTER DEDICATION

Tuesday, October 9  *  6:30 pm

Come and celebrate the opening of this new facility in our school district.  The Activities Center is located between Woodruff Primary School and Woodruff Elementary School.  The WES PTO is sponsoring a pumpkin sale beginning at 5:45 pm.

After Sunday School and Worship we will load up the bus, go to lunch, and then we will get set for volleyball.  Bring a change of clothes and your best game face.  Parents may pick up their youth at the church volleyball court around 3:00 pm.

 

FLU SHOTS

Wednesday, November 7 * 2:00 – 6:00 pm

Sign up now to receive a flu shot ($25) or pneumonia shot ($45.)  Passport Health will be with us to conduct this clinic.  The shots are available for those who are 6 months old and above.  Those who are under 18 and would like to receive a flu shot must have a parent physically present at the clinic to sign for them.  Those who are under 18 and would like to receive a pneumonia shot must have a note from their doctor.  The pneumonia shot is good for 5 years.  The paperwork necessary to submit the cost of the shots with health insurance will be provided.  The clinic is open to anyone in the community.  Please call the church office to sign up before Wednesday, October 31.

ADULT CHOIR NEWS

Now is a great time to join the adult choir!  We are learning a new Christmas musical, Unspeakable Joy, that will feature the Adult Choir, Four for Him, Praise Team and our Children’s Choirs.  So come and join us on Wednesday evenings at 6:30 in the choir room as we prepare for this exciting time of worship and celebration of our Savior’s birth.  Unspeakable Joy will be performed during the morning worship service on December 23.
