STEVE RAMEY

Has been called to serve as Pastor of the New Life Baptist Church!

Steve accepted the call from the New Life Baptist Church this past Sunday and will begin as their pastor this Sunday morning, November 26.  We are grateful for the gifts that God has entrusted to Steve and for the way that he uses them to bring God glory.  Please pray for Steve, Beth, Sarah Ashley, Mary Catherine, Whitt, and Charlie during these days of transition as they seek to be faithful to God’s call.

Called Church Conference

Our church will have a special called church conference this Sunday morning to act on the request that Steve be licensed and ordained to the gospel ministry.  In Baptist life, ordination is for a task.  When someone is called to pastor a church, the church that they come from usually has the privilege of planning a service of ordination.  This Sunday morning we will act on that request.

Ordination Council

Should our church approve the request, an Ordination Council will be called this Sunday afternoon at 4:00 pm in the Prayer Meeting Room.  The Council is open to all ordained ministers and deacons.  At the Council, Steve will have the opportunity to present his testimony, sense of calling and his beliefs.  The Ordination Council will then report back to our church at the beginning of the Ordination Service.

Service of Ordination

Pending church approval we will hold a Service of Ordination this Sunday evening at 6:00 pm, publicly setting Steve apart to the Gospel Ministry.  Please make plans to join us for this special time in the life of our church family as we seek to affirm and under-gird Steve and his family at this beginning point of his pastoral ministry.

Church Leadership

As Steve assumes new duties at New Life, Dr. Lynn Harrill, our current Vice-Chairman of Deacons, will begin serving as our Chairman of Deacons.  At the December Deacons’ Meeting our Deacons will elect a new Vice-Chairman, and a new Church Trustee.  Steve and his family have been serving through our church in many, many different ways.  Please be praying that God will raise up people to serve so that these ministries may continue and prosper.  It is our prayer that God will bless both churches as we seek to work together in His Kingdom’s service.

THE TRIVIA QUESTION

This week’s question:  What gift to our church was instrumental in the church planning a public funeral service for a little boy’s dog?  Last week’s question was How tall is the cross on our steeple?  When the newsletter was printed last week we thought we had the plans for the steeple available, but they are missing, so we do not have an exact measurement.  The steeple itself is 120 feet high.  Lee Turner who went up in a lift to make repairs to the steeple tells us that the cross is at least 6 feet high.

Thanksgiving Schedule

The church office will be closed Nov. 23-24.  The Community Meal will be from 11:00 am till 1:30 pm on Wednesday, Nov. 22.  No services or activities will be held at the church on Wednesday night, Nov. 22.
