CHRISTIAN SYMPATHY

Our church family grieves the death of Mary Wall and extends our love and prayerful support to her family and friends.  Paul and Mary became part of our church family in 1972.  She taught the children in Sunday School, was faithful in visiting the sick and in all the activities of the church.  We give thanks for the way she gave witness to the love of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Our church family grieves the death of Calvin Willard and extends our love and prayerful support to his family and friends.  Calvin and Sarah became part of our church family in 1985.  For many years, they led a worship service early on Sunday mornings at B J Workman Hospital.  Calvin served as a Deacon, a Gideon, and was faithful in all the activities of the church.  We give thanks for his example and testimony.

We extend our heartfelt love and prayers to Carolyn Culbreath and family in the death of her sister in law, Coleman Jennings.

FLYWHEEL

In Every Man’s Life, There’s a Turning Point

This Sunday, November 11 * 6:00 – 8:00 pm

Jay Austin wants to sell used cars in the worst way... and that's exactly how he does business at his dealership. Promising more than he can deliver, he'll do whatever it takes to sell a car.  His manipulative ways permeate all of his relationships—even his wife and son know they can't trust him.  As a classic convertible is restored, Jay begins to see that God is working on restoring him as well.  Invite friends, family, neighbors and co-workers to come with you to this special service.

THANKSGIVING SERVICES

First Baptist Church

Sunday, November 18  *  7:00 pm

First Baptist, Emma Gray Methodist, and First Presbyterian have shared together in a service of Thanksgiving for many, many years.  The service will be held on the Sunday night before Thanksgiving.  Bring your friends and family as we serve as the hosts for this wonderful time of worship.

Northside Baptist Church

Tuesday, November 20  *  7:00 pm

Planned by the Woodruff Baptist Association, the service will be led by individuals from churches across our community.  Rev. George Norris will be preaching.  Come and join in as we express our thanks to God!

OVER AND ABOVE OFFERING

The church voted this past Sunday night to begin saving money toward the next Over and Above Project:  Sanctuary Heating and Air.  Our present air-conditioning system for the sanctuary was installed in 1973 and the heat is dependent on boilers that have operated since 1962.   At present, heat is only available in the sanctuary during the months that the entire church system has been converted from air-conditioning to heat.   On unseasonably cool days in the spring and fall, our present system does not allow us to provide heat for the sanctuary.   To install a new Trane packaged gas fired unit for heating and cooling would run around $76,000.00.  It will take one - two months for a new unit to arrive after it has been ordered.  Ideally, we would want to plan for the installation in spring or fall when heat or air-conditioning would not be needed as much.  Offerings contributed to the Over and Above Fund will now be applied to the Sanctuary Heating and Air Project.

Over and Above Fund Balance:  $2,500.00
