Responding to

THE DA VINCI CODE

The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown is a worldwide bestseller.  A movie based on the book, staring Tom Hanks, will be released this week.  Even though the novel is about a fictional conspiracy theory, the mixture of fact and fiction provides plausibility, compelling the reader to follow the clues wherever they lead, whatever the truth.  The Da Vinci Code raises serious questions about the origins and claims of Christianity.  Many come away from it with their beliefs shaken or wondering just what is true and what is not.  Sunday night we will try to separate fact from fiction as we look together at the life and claims of Christ, the history of Holy Scripture, the role of women in Jesus’ ministry and the facts behind our faith.

THANK YOU!

Dear Josh, Austin, Lillie, Megan, Kristina and Andrew,  I know I’m late expressing my appreciation but that does not mean I am not grateful for the work you did cleaning the gutters on my house; thank you!  Thank you, too, for being so happy, cooperative and industrious.  As others have said, our church and our community are blessed to have folks like you among us.  May God continue to bless you as you work for Him.  Frances Pearson

40 DAYS OF COMMUNITY

September 24 – November 11, 2006

Back in 2004, our church family was blessed as we participated together in 40 Days of Purpose.  This fall we will take the next step.  We realize that God does not intend for us to be alone as we try to fulfill His purpose in our lives.  40 Days of Community focuses on how we can help one another as brothers and sisters in Christ.  The devotionals, Bible studies, Scripture memory, and worship services will respond to the question, “What on earth are we here for?”  Please begin praying that the Lord will use this emphasis in a powerful way.

Everyone will need a copy of the 40 Days of Community Workbook: Better Together.  The workbook includes 40 Days of Devotions, 40 Days of Journaling, and the Small Group Study Guide.  These may be purchased in the church office at a cost of $7.00.  We encourage you, if you are able, to purchase one for yourself and one for a friend.  Different workbooks for youth and children will be provided.  We can also order copies of The Purpose Driven Life (The devotional guide for 40 Days of Purpose) at a cost of $7.00.  You may want to consider using it in your devotions this summer as we prepare for what God will do this fall.
