CHRISTIAN SYMPATHY

We express our love and prayerful support to Peggy Gilliland and family in the death of Dr. Oliver Gilliland.  Dr. Gilliland served as a missionary to Indonesia from 1964-1976 and 1983-1992.

PARKING LOT CONSTRUCTION

The parking lot is being paved this week.  We will still need to stay off of it after it is paved so that the asphalt can cure well. (We want it to last a long time.)  For the next few Sundays we encourage anyone who is able to do so to park at the High School so that our front parking spaces will be left for visitors, the elderly and the handicapped.  We are tentatively planning to have a Dedication Service for the parking lot on Sunday, May 27.  Please continue to pray for everyone who is involved in this project.

LAST REGULAR WEDNESDAY

Next Wednesday, May 16, is our last Wednesday night of the school year program.  Join us on May 23 for Family Fun Night.

With Love and Appreciation for

THOMASENE OWENSBY

We give thanks to God for Thomasene and for her ministry through music.  She completes her 3rd year of service as our church organist next week.  We have been richly blessed through her gifts and abilities.  Pray for Thomasene as she faithfully lives out God’s call in her life through ministry.

HEATING & AIR-CONDITIONING

When our church building was built, it was designed with a “two pipe” system that circulates either hot water or cold water to air-handlers that then circulate either hot or cold air.  Changing from air-conditioning to heat requires a technician to come and spend part of a day with us starting up the boilers and adjusting all the various valves and settings.  We follow a similar process when we change from heat to air-conditioning.  What this means is that for most of our facility, once we change over from heat to air conditioning in the spring, we no longer have the capability to have heat until the system is changed over again.  On unseasonably cool days in the late spring and summer, please dress warmly and consider bringing a throw or whatever you will need to be comfortable.  We set the thermostat in the sanctuary to 72 degrees.  For many this is terribly cool, for others it is terribly hot.  On any given Sunday, we hear complaints both from those who are too cold and from those who are too hot.  Please be patient with and considerate of each other.  Within the sanctuary, there are places that are warmer and cooler than others (the balcony and choir loft are always warmer, sitting under a vent is generally cooler.)  Please do what you can to make the best of our heating and air system so that all of us can worship the Lord together.

CXS TRANSPORTATION

We have been informed that effective May 13, the train speed in the town of Woodruff will increase from 25 mph to 35 mph.  Please exercise caution.

THANK YOU!

Thank you so much for the wonderful worship service and luncheon on Senior Adult Day.  Everything was delightful!  Special thanks to Pam and Tommie Jo for cooking and to everyone who helped.  It is great to be part of such a loving church!  Mary Dell Scott

Dear Fellow Christians, We wish to thank you for sharing your wonderful musical talents, especially your Four For Him quartet, with us on Sunday, April 29.  It was very inspirational and thoroughly enjoyed by everyone.  It is certainly a blessing to have the freedom of religion and fellowship of our Christian brothers and sisters.  Thank you so much for sharing in this privilege and providing a fantastic evening.  God Bless you,

                                                               Rev Randall Parnell

Great appreciation is expressed to Pam Scott and Tommie Jo McAbee, deacons, GA’s and youth who worked to make Senior Adult Day a wonderful success.  A great time was had by all!
