MARTHA LEWIS MISSION GROUP

The Martha Lewis Mission Group will meet Monday, June 18 at 5:45 pm at the Montrose Assisted Living.  Remember to bring small bottles of shampoo, lotion, Kleenex, etc.

 

BIBLE COLLECTION

The Morning Mission Group is collecting new, used and children’s Bibles for use by ministries of the Spartanburg County Baptist Network.  Collection boxes are located throughout the church.

 

OVER AND ABOVE OFFERING

“I believe something extra-ordinary is possible!”

As the Parking Lot Project nears completion, we are beginning to be billed for different portions of the work.  The estimated cost of the project is $254,661.54.  We have received $126,857.71 to date for the parking lot.  Gifts contributed at this point will not only help us pay for the new parking lot but will keep us from exhausting our Capital Needs Fund which is needed for future projects.  Your gifts are needed and greatly appreciated!

 

SKINNER’S BBQ CHICKEN & PORK

Sunday, July 1  *  12:00 pm

Join us for Skinner’s BBQ Chicken and Pork accompanied by baked beans, slaw, rolls, tea, lemonade and assorted desserts as we celebrate our nation’s independence.  The cost will be $7.00 per plate.  Tickets may be purchased in advance through the church office.  Sign up in your Sunday School class this Sunday.

SCHOLARSHIP ENDOWMENT

First Baptist Church in Gaffney has established a scholarship endowment for students in honor of their pastor emeritus.  Dr. Morrow served as our pastor from 1968 – 1973.  Contributions to the fund can be made to the Baptist Foundation, 190 Stoneridge Drive, Columbia, SC  29210-8239.

KIDNEY TRANSPLANT

One of our friends, Mr. Robert Briggs, is in need of a kidney transplant.  He needs to raise $3,200.00 to secure his transplant status at Emory University Hospital in order to be placed on the active list.  The Robert L Briggs Kidney Fund has been established for him at Arthur State Bank.  Please prayerfully consider making a donation to this fund.  I know he will be very grateful for any amount you may be able to give.  Sincerely, Kathy Soza

RELAY REPORT

Appreciation is expressed to everyone who was able to participate in the fund raising events and the Relay for Life activities.  Over $2,400.00 was raised for the fight against cancer through the efforts of the First Baptist Relay Team.

 

FATHER’S DAY GIFT

A special gift will be presented to each father who is in attendance at this Sunday’s worship service.  Plan to join with your family of faith as we worship God together.

Greenville Drive vs. Kannapolis Intimidators

Bring your family as we go out to the ballpark.  We will leave from the church at 5:30 pm on Friday, July 13.  The cost of admission is $5.00.  Children 10 and under must have an adult chaperone.  Sign up by bringing your money to the church before Thursday, June 28.  The game starts at 7:00 pm.  Fireworks will follow the game.

JUNE ADULT CHOIR REHEARSAL

Thursday, June 14 * 6:00 – 8:00 pm

Come and join the Adult Choir!  Rehearsals in the summer will be held monthly.  Enjoy great fellowship, refreshments and singing.  All are welcome!

 

RAFTING ON THE NANTAHALA RIVER

Join us Saturday, July 21.  The cost is $30 per person and includes rafting and a meal after the rafting trip.  This is a great family outing, so sign your family up today.  Bring your money to sign up before Thursday, June 28.  Space is limited.
