Be praying that God will be at work in a powerful way!  The Devotional Guides may be purchased in the church office at a cost of $7.00.  We encourage you, if you are able, to purchase one for yourself and one for a friend.  Different guides for youth and children will be provided.

We give thanks to God for Debra and for her ministry through our church office.  She joined our church staff on July 15, 2002.  We give thanks as she begins her 5th year of service this week.  Debra’s organizational skills, friendliness, professionalism, resourcefulness, willingness to go over and above the job description and love for the Lord shine through her life as she serves in Jesus’ name.  We give thanks for the Fortner family and what they mean to our church.  We are richly blessed!

JULY BIBLE BONANZA

The Morning Mission Group is collecting all kinds of Bibles to be given to the Spartanburg Baptist Network to be distributed through various ministries.  Collection boxes will be in the foyers through July 30.

 

BOOKBAGS NEEDED

The Martha Lewis Mission Group is collecting bookbags for the Woodruff Primary School.  If you would like to contribute, you may bring them to the church office.  The school has asked that the book bags not have any rollers or wheels attached to them.  Thanks for your help in making a child’s school year brighter.

 

LEARN TO READ MUSIC!

If you would be interested in a basic music class that would enable you to learn to read music, please call the church office.  Kay Young has agreed to teach and will set a day and time based on the response.  This will be a great opportunity to increase your enjoyment of participation in handbells, choir, congregational singing and other music programs as well give you a valuable life skill that the Lord will use in many, many ways.

 

SACRED MARRIAGE BANQUET

The Community Men’s Ministry Group is sponsoring this catered banquet honoring husbands and wives.  Evangelists Dr. Bailey Smith and Rev. Bob Smith are the featured program guests.  Tickets are $10 and may be purchased from Mike Elliott or the church office.

AND ICE CREAM

Make plans to be here for this time of entertainment, inspiration and fellowship.  The program will feature Milton Smith and Friends and the Northern Border Blue Grass Band.  If you would like to provide a churn of Ice Cream or other treats, please contact Pam Scott or the church office.

 

CHURCH CONFERENCE REPORT

1.  The church adopted a plan for the back parking lot.  Our engineer, Kelly Sellars, will be at work this week to prepare documents, based on the plan the church adopted, that can be used with the lighting engineers and with interested contractors.

2.  The church voted to purchase a laptop out of Capital Needs Funds that can be used for multimedia presentations.

3.  The church affirmed the names submitted by the Nominating Committee to serve in the new church year.

 

MOTHERS OF PRESCHOOLERS

This fall our church will be the host church for the MOPS Program in the Woodruff Community.  MOPS is designed to empower and inspire women in their journey to be the best parents possible.  Susan Cooper will serve as the group’s coordinator.  If you would like more information or if you would like to volunteer to help provide childcare for the meetings, please contact Susan or the church office.

 

WOODRUFF COMMUNITY REVIVAL

Fall for Jesus

September 17 – 21, 2006  *  First Baptist Church

The revival is being planned by Woodruff area ministers and churches across racial and denominational lines.  The goal is to bring the whole community together to focus on our relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ.  Our church has been asked to serve as the host church for this community event.  Pray that the Lord will be at work in a powerful way.

BEREAVEMENT SUPPORT GROUP

Come experience God’s love in a healing process by meeting, sharing & supporting others.  The meetings are held the third Thursday of each month and are open to anyone that has lost a loved one.
