School Year

WEDNESDAY NIGHT WORKERS

It takes a lot of committed people for our church to be able to provide all of different ministries that are offered during the school year.  We are grateful for each one who has volunteered their time, energy, patience and talent.  Over the years we have been able to reach many children, young people and families through these efforts.    If you are interested in helping on Wednesday nights for the 2007-2008 school year, please call the church office.  This year’s theme is The Wonderful Mystery.

OVER AND ABOVE OFFERING

“I believe something extra-ordinary is possible!”

The Parking Lot Project is complete.  We are awaiting the final bill for the work.  The estimated cost of the project is $254,661.54.  We have received $129,627.04 to date for the parking lot.  Gifts contributed at this point will not only help us pay for the new parking lot but will keep us from exhausting our Capital Needs Fund which is needed for future projects.  Your gifts are needed and greatly appreciated!

MEDICAL EQUIPMENT

The Health Ministry Team keeps a closet of equipment that is available to be loaned out when needed.  At present we have:  bedside commodes, raised toilet seat, shower chair, oxygen concentrator, adult crutches, walkers (stationary, folding & with wheels), & wheelchairs.  Please call the church office if you need to borrow any of these items.

FUNERAL MEAL PREPARATION

We need volunteers to help prepare dishes for funeral meals on a rotating basis.  If you would like to help, please contact the church office for information and to sign up.  Thanks!

Be praying now for the

WOODRUFF COMMUNITY REVIVAL

September 16 – 20, 2007 * First Baptist Church

With Love and Appreciation for

DEBRA FORTNER

We give thanks to God for Debra and for her ministry through our church office.  She joined our church staff on July 15, 2002.  Debra’s organizational skills, friendliness, professionalism, resourcefulness, willingness to go over and above the job description and love for the Lord shine through her life as she serves in Jesus’ name.  We give thanks for the Fortner family and what they mean to our church.  We are richly blessed!

BIBLE COLLECTION

The Morning Mission Group is collecting new, used and children’s Bibles for use by ministries of the Spartanburg County Baptist Network.  Collection boxes are located throughout the church.

HOT DAYS AND COOL BOOKS!

Come and join the fun!  The Church Library is sponsoring a “Read-a-Thon” until September 1.  Children, Youth, and Adults will be awarded separately.  Rules and forms are available in the church office and in the library.

SOUP LABELS

Campbell’s has changed their procedure for the soup labels.  We now need the UPC code from Campbell’s products.  A complete list is available in the church office or online at www.labelsforeducation.com.  We are currently sending the labels to Intracoastal Outreach, a Southern Baptist Ministry at Myrtle Beach.
