CALLED CHURCH CONFERENCE

Regarding the Church Parking Lot

There will be a special called conference to hear a recommendation from the Grounds Committee and the Deacons concerning Phase 1 of our Parking Lot project.  In the July Conference, the church approved plans drawn by K. B. Sellars Engineering, LLC.  Next Sunday’s recommendation concerns the choice of a contractor, lighting and the costs that will be involved.  The meeting will be held after the Evening Service so that there will be plenty of time for questions and discussion.  If the church gives its approval to this recommendation, work could begin as early as the next week.  Everyone is urged to be present for this important conference in the life of our church.

SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASS

If you are not part of a Sunday School class, you are invited to join a special class that approaches Bible study through questions raised in current events.  Each week a news article, questions, and Scripture references are emailed to class members as they prepare for Sunday.  If you are interested in being part of this Bible study group, please contact the church office.  Beginning March 4, the class will meet in one of the rooms across from Fellowship Hall.

2007 FLOWER CALENDAR

Call or come by the church office to reserve the Sunday you would like to put flowers in the sanctuary in 2007.

THE TRIVIA QUESTION

This week’s question:  One Sunday morning, worshippers were greeted by ashes and smoke – Woodruff Senior High School was on fire.  That morning our church voted to offer our facilities to the high school until more permanent arrangements could be made.  Classes were held here at our church and in portable trailers at the other schools.  What day did the high school burn down?

Last week’s question:  In 1859, our church surveyed the community to find out how many homes did not have a Bible so that we could purchase Bibles for these families.  How many families in the Woodruff Community did not own a Bible in 1859?  It was reported that 24 families did not own a Bible.  This represented 108 people.  Our church purchased and distributed 23 Bibles and 11 Large Testaments.
