Day 1- It all starts with God

Why am I here? What is my purpose? What would change if I wasn't here? It seems everyone will ask one of those questions, or one like it, during their lifetime. I know I have before. It's a big question that people have been struggling with for a long time. It's really sad to know that many people go through life and never find the answer. The biggest reason is that people often look to the wrong place for the answer.

Most people start by asking "What do I need to do to make myself complete?" But the problem has always been that we don't know! We didn't design this life, so how can we figure out how to complete it by ourselves? Thousands of years of asking "What feels good to me?" has not helped us answer the question of why we are here. People have worked all their life to become successful, rich, smart, powerful, or happy at marriage and relationships, only to find that there was still something missing. So after we realize that we can't figure it out on our own [which is what most people never get past], we know we simply need to go to who designed this life.

This sounds like a problem, but we have an edge. God loves us. God designed us with a purpose. And God wants us to know our purpose. So we look to the Bible, God's message to us, for help. And the Bible tells us this:
"For everything, absolutely everything, above and below, visible and invisible,... everything got started in him and finds its purpose in him." -Colossians 1.16 [the Message]

So the big problem with people asking "What do I need to do to make myself complete?" is that they are asking the wrong person... themselves! Without God we won't be able to figure out what our purpose is.

Thinking About My Purpose:
Know. It's not just about me.
Remember. Everything got started in him and finds its purpose in him. -Colossians 1.16b [the Message]
Think about it. Have I ever seen, or can I see anything today, that lets me know that life is bigger than just me?
