recently i've discovered something about myself that i think
is common with
many Christians. this thing is not something to be proud of at all.
its easy for us, as Christians, to get caught in a rut. we are comfortable
in our own lives because nothing really terrible is going on that is
directly affecting us for a period of time. so we get comfortable with the
world and its ways and if we don't forget about God, we neglect Him. and i
don't know which is worse. things that should bother us because we are
Christians don't really cause us to think twice anymore. where has the fire
gone?
i can see it in some of the people i run into everyday who i know are
Christians and i can also see it particularly in myself. or maybe, and this
is just as bad in my opinion, we are so self-righteous that we get on our
knees at night and don't have a lot to say to God because we don't think
we've done anything wrong that day. WHATEVER!
i ran across these verses the other week.
we need to think about the condition of our hearts and how it
reflects in
our actions and words. God knows your heart. GUARD IT AS WELL AS YOU CAN!
think about what you watch on t.v., what you read, and who you hang out
with. are you doing these things for the right reasons? if God is telling
you to make a difference in a certain person's life, are you making that
difference? or are you leading that person more astray? don't be a
stumbling block.
i hope that these verses will be a prayer for our everyday lives this year.
let's ask God to test us and show us where we have gone wrong and how to get
back on the right path with Him.
love in Christ,
laura
