One of my favorite stories is told by Soren Kierkegaard about a community of ducks.

Each Sunday they climbed a hill and went to Duck church. It was a great occasion. They would sing all the duck hymns, they would read the duck scriptures about what it means to be a duck and eventually the duck minister would waddle to the front. He spoke with lots of enthusiasm that was contagious in the congregation so sometimes it became big pep rally. He would shout, "We are ducks! We can Fly!" This would stir everyone up and they would shout back, "Yes!" "We are ducks! We can Fly!" This would go on and on until it hit a crescendo of enthusiasm, and then they would say the duck benediction and all the ducks would waddle back to their homes.

I know that there are many different styles of worship, and we all need a way to love God with our hearts and our heads. Some of you may go to a church where hooping and hollering is the norm, others may go where quiet reflection is emphasized. We need it all, but more that anything, we need a way to translate the great affirmations of our faith into our real lives. It is easy for us to shout about flying and then waddle around. It is easy to affirm that God is in control and that there is no problem He can't handle and then worry ourselves to death. The challenge is to stop waddling.

"Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint." Isaiah 40:31

Pray that God will:

Allow the vibrancy of your faith to be a witness to all you encounter.

Give you grace to be a living testimony of His promises and strength.

bullet

Cause your faith to not be expressed only in words but in real life action.
