In the world that we live in, locally, in our everyday lives, there aren't a lot of people to be found who have not heard the Good News.

I'm sure I could spout you out a list of names of people that I know who don't have much faith to speak of.  In their case, it's not because they don't know of anything to believe in, it's just that they cannot bring themselves to believe it.  Half of these people try to believe, but have so many doubts that they are always searching and never finding.  The other half of them even go to church, but have somehow failed to attain the deep, personal realization of true faith.  This frustrates me greatly.

It is our job as Christians to be a light to others.  If I'm a flashlight, sometimes I wonder if maybe my batteries are dead and I don't know it.  Yet, I can tell they know that I have that something that they do not.  How can I give faith to them?  How can I make them see and understand?

Jesus healed the blind easily.  He spit in the mud, smeared it on a blind man's eyes, and told him to go and wash in the pool of Siloam.  And miraculously, that man could see.  (John 9)  I haven't ever tried doing that to people, but somehow I think it would only get them a bit angry at me...

So what can I do??  It breaks my heart to watch some of my peers struggling like they do.  Some of them are just troubled and confused and don't know why.  Others are earnestly looking and trying to believe--and they just can't do it.  And many of them are such great people.  I wish I could put some of my faith in a box and give it to them.  But the personal realization of how much Christ did for you is something that comes on it's own.  And God sends it to each person on His schedule, according to His perfect plan.  And so I look to and follow Paul's words to the Ephesians:

When I think of the wisdom and scope of God's plan, I fall to my knees and pray to the Father, the Creator of everything in heaven and on earth.  I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will give you mighty inner strength through his Holy Spirit.  And I pray that Christ will be more and more at home in your hearts as you trust in him.  May your roots go down deep into the soil of God's marvelous love.  And may you have the power to understand, as all God's people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love really is.  May you experience the love of  Christ, though it is so great you will never fully understand it.  Then you will be filled with the fullness of life and power that comes from God.     Ephesians 3:14-19

*please pray*

~ for our peers and everyone you may know, that God will reveal Himself to them and they will at last believe

May God bless you with His boundless love!
