VACATION

BIBLE SCHOOL

Pray that God will be at work in an incredible way during Vacation Bible School!  This year we journey in our imaginations to New York City.  The theme is “Big Apple Adventure:  Where Faith and Life Connect  Contact the church office if your child will need transportation to or from the daycares.

 

 

SOUP AND SANDWICH LUNCHEON

Sunday, June 5 * After the Morning Service

Come and enjoy good food and fellowship.  Proceeds will go to the American Cancer Society to be used in the fight against cancer.  This year’s Relay for Life will begin Friday, June 10 at 7:00 pm at Woodruff High School.

LUMINARY BAGS

Luminary Bags placed In Honor or In Memory will line the walking path and each name will be called during the Memorial Service at the Woodruff Relay for Life.   Luminary bags may be purchased for $10.00 in the church office. 

 

CHALLENGERS

A Mission Group for Guys in Grades 6-12

Summer Meetings

The Challengers will be meeting this summer at the home of Keith, Christine, Chelsea and Connor Reynolds, 750 Cavins Road.  There will be time for food, fellowship, fun and a devotional lesson.  Bring a bathing suit and towel for time to swim in the pool.  Meetings in June will be from 6:00 – 7:30 pm on Wednesdays – June 8 & 22.  Call Keith or the church office if you need directions.

 

PRAYER REQUESTS

Our church has a printed prayer list with names and addresses that are updated for Prayer Meeting on Tuesday mornings, for our Wednesday Night Bible Study, and for Sunday School each week.  Cards are available in the pews, foyers, and Sunday School boxes to write down requests for prayer.  There is a place to check if you would like the request included on our printed weekly prayer sheet and if you would like our prayer groups to send cards of encouragement.  Prayer requests may also be sent by email or by telephone.

KAY YOUNG!

We give thanks to God for Kay and for her ministry through music.  Kay not only serves as our Church Pianist but also directs our Handbell Choir.  Kay joined our church staff on June 1, 2003 and will complete her 8th year of service next week.  We have been richly blessed through her gifts and abilities.  Pray for her daily as she faithfully lives out God’s call in her life through ministry.

 

EVELYN HENDERSON OFFERING

For Missions in Spartanburg County

This year’s offering is designated to help:  Ethnic Summit scholarships, Carpenters for Christ project materials, Hispanic Summer Missionaries, Disaster Relief, BCM technology & special ministries, Riding for Jesus Church, Hispanic New Work, New Messianic congregation, International Bibles and assistance to the Journey Church.  Please pray for the work of the Spartanburg County Network and consider giving to this special offering. 

 

JUNE ADULT CHOIR REHEARSAL

Wednesday, June 29 * 6:00 – 8:00 pm

Come and join the Adult Choir!  Rehearsals in the summer will be held monthly.  Enjoy great fellowship, refreshments and singing.  All are welcome!

 

HANDBELL CHOIR

Our Handbell Choir will rehearse once a month during the summer.  The next rehearsal will be Sunday, June 12 at 9:00 am.  Talk with Kay Young if you would like to be part of this group.

 

CHESS CLUB

Chess Club will meet once a month this summer.  The June meeting will be Thursday, June 16 at 6:30 pm.  Contact Phil Wood for more information.

 

UPWARD SPORTS

Green Pond Baptist Church

Starting June 1 Green Pond Baptist will register children for the Upward Sports Football and Cheerleading Season.  Upward Evaluations will be held from July 11-14 for all applicants.

HATTIE PATTILLO 100 YEARS OLD

Hattie Pattillo celebrated her 100th birthday this week and was featured as the May Resident of the Month at National Health Care in Mauldin.  Copies of the article from the NHC Newsletter are available in the church office.
