Thanks Expressed to Our

WEDNESDAY NIGHT WORKERS

It is hard to believe that another school year has come & is almost gone.  We are very grateful for all who have worked in the kitchen, worked with our choirs, mission groups & with the Bible studies.  Over the years we have been able to reach many children, young people & families through these efforts.  It takes a lot of committed people for our church to be able to provide all of the different ministries that are offered during the school year.  We are grateful for each one who has volunteered their time, energy, patience & talent.  If you are interested in helping on Wednesday nights for the 2011-2012 school year, please call the church office.

With Love and Appreciation For

KELLY SMITH!

We give thanks to God for Kelly and for her ministry to our church and with our children, youth, and senior adults.  The Lord has richly blessed Kelly’s work and we have seen wonderful things take place under her faithful leadership.  Kelly joined our church staff on May 27, 2001 and will complete her 10th year of service next week.  We are so grateful for the way that God has been at work through her.  Pray for her daily as she seeks to reflect Christ’s love and to make a difference in hearts and lives.

The Woodruff Relay for Life is June 10-11 at Woodruff High School.  Luminary Bags placed In Honor or In Memory will line the walking path and each name will be called during the Memorial Service.   Luminary bags may be purchased for $10.00 in the church office.

CHURCH CONFERENCE REPORT

Roofs

The church approved a recommendation from the Property Committee that Grier Roofing be contracted to replace all of the shingled roofs of the church (including the garage.)  They will use a 30 year architectural shingle and will seek to match the existing colors.  They will also be applying a TPO system to our flat roofs.  Work should begin in a few weeks.  We have asked them not to work during Vacation Bible School and the weddings that are on the church calendar.

Casual Summer

The church approved a motion that we observe “Casual Summer” again this year – Memorial Day to Labor Day.

PRAYER REQUESTS

Our church has a printed prayer list with names and addresses that are updated for Prayer Meeting on Tuesday mornings, for our Wednesday Night Bible Study, and for Sunday School each week.  Cards are available in the pews, foyers, and Sunday School boxes to write down requests for prayer.  There is a place to check if you would like the request included on our printed weekly prayer sheet and if you would like our prayer groups to send cards of encouragement.  Prayer requests may also be sent by email or by telephone.

EXTENDED SUNDAY SCHOOL

Each month Sunday School Teachers visit in homes, teach the Sunday School lesson and bring materials for Christian Growth to those in our congregation who are not able to attend Sunday School on Sunday mornings.  If you or someone you love would like to receive these monthly visits, please call the church office.

THANK YOU!

Dear Church Family,  Thank you so much for your many acts of kindness shown to us during Jeff’s illness.  The meals, cards, visits, phone calls and prayers touched our hearts.  A special thank you to Andrew.  Love,  Jeff & Doniece Lanford

Dear Pastor Shull and Friends of First Baptist Church,  Thanks to each of you for the prayers, love and support you have shown to our family during the past year since the accident that that involved Rhett and Rosemary.  We are forever grateful.  Grace to you, Rob, Rosemary and Rhett Nelson

Dear First Baptist Church,  Thank you very much for your financial contribution, prayers and support on my mission trip to Athens, Greece.  It was an amazing experience in which I was able to see and share God’s love of all nations.  During my week in Athens, I fell in love with the Greeks, found a passion for foreign missions and grew deeper in my faith with Christ.  Thank you so much for thinking of me and helping me to have this life changing experience.     In Christ Love,  Cassie Fortner

Dear members of First Baptist Church,  Your thoughts and prayers are greatly appreciated.  Prayers do get answered.   Dave Jacobi
