There are many who may never experience a true Noel – a true Christmas – a celebration of the coming of the Savior.  Christmas begins when the Christ of Christmas is born in the hearts of those who seek Him.  He comes to us – He moves among us – not because of our merit, but because of His mercy.  This could be your time to experience the miracle of Christmas – this could be your time to come to the hallowed manger ground.  This could be your time to behold His glory – come & worship, you will not be turned away, this could be your First Noel.

ARE WE THERE YET?

The anticipated and beautiful vision of all peoples knowing and praising God comes closer to being realized as Christians seek unreached people groups to tell them the story of Jesus.  Are we there yet?  Not yet.  But for the first time in history, we can identify the people groups that remain untouched by the Gospel.  We can get there in our generation – if we are obedient.  Please prayerfully consider your gift to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering.

WHO IS LOTTIE MOON?

Born into privilege on a Virginia plantation, Charlotte Digges Moon was a smart, forceful woman who could have achieved most any goal. But God’s call focused Lottie’s life on sharing Christ’s love with China’s lost masses.  For 37 years she endured hardship and danger in a land oppressed by famine, disease and war. In the end, she loved Christ and the Chinese people more than life itself, giving her own food to starving neighbors – eventually dying of starvation herself.

Throughout her career, Lottie wrote numerous letters home urging greater missions’ involvement and support. One of those letters, excerpted below, triggered our first offering for international missions in 1888 – enough to send three more missionaries to China.

“How many there are … who imagine that because Jesus paid it all, they need pay nothing, forgetting that the prime object of their salvation was that they should follow in the footsteps of Jesus Christ in bringing back a lost world to God.”   -- Lottie Moon, Tengchow, China, Sept. 15, 1887.

PRAYER GUIDES

Missionaries depend on your prayers as they take the Gospel into the hard places. Nov. 28-Dec. 5 our church will join thousands of churches to pray for missionaries working to tear down the barriers to the message of Christ in pockets of lostness around the world.  Prayer guides will be included with this Sunday’s bulletin that feature testimonies and prayer requests.  Please use them next week during your daily quiet time.
